For my Social Media class we are reading Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies by Charlene Li and Josh Bernoff.

Part one: Understanding the groundswell

chapter 1: why the groundswell- and why not?

The groundswell is: A social trend in which people use technologies to get the things they need forn each other, rather than from traditional institutions like corporations ( Li and Bernoff, pg.9).

The groundswell comes from the collision of three factors: people, technology, and economics. These three trends- people’s desire to connect, new interactive technologies, and online economics- have created a new era (Li and Bernoff, pg. 11).

Jujitsu is a  Japanese martial art that enables you to harness the power of your opponent for your own advantage.

chapter 3: the social technographics profile

Chapter 3 explains the Social Technographics Profile and how people are grouped into categories based on the groundswell activities in which they participate.
